How the Land Lies

HOW THE LAND LIES is a choreographed interaction between 5 bodies and 3 LED scrolling signs, directed by Bianca Hisse (Brazil/Norway) and Laura Cemin (Italy/Finland) in collaboration with dancers from immigrant backgrounds based in the Nordic countries. The LEDs, usually encountered in public spaces as low-key advertisement signs, become vessels to convey how language influences mobility and movement between countries.

Noga Projects created a stage lighting concept inspired and informed by the pre-existing light elements in the performance, using solely LED fixtures and a variety of white and red hues. The lighting design is developed to simplify touring and adjust to different venues.
